Splurge On A Hotel And Think Before You Insult Your Family - S:3 Ep. 2 "Philadelphia"

Here are this week’s Really? Moments:

If you are visiting your Mother and are trying to hide something…splurge on a hotel. Kate and Toby want to hide Kate’s IVF hormone shots from Rebecca. But, they stay with Rebecca when they are in town for Kevin’s movie premiere, and not so cleverly hide the hormones with the pudding cups. Miguel, like any sane person, goes for a pudding snack before leaving for the premiere, and viola! The hormone shots fall out for all to see. Hiding things from your Mom is high school level duplicity, so next time, spring for a hotel or stash your IVF hormones in something no one voluntarily eats, like kale.

Kevin needs a better publicist. Kevin spends his entire premiere just walking and talking with Kate. Where is his publicist? Why aren’t the reporters swarming him? Then the show’s writers try a last minute save by having Kevin interviewed by Mario Lopez. So unless it’s 1994, he STILL needs a better publicist.

Miguel should never speak. That’s all I really have to say.

Kate’s head is perpetually stuck up her ass. Sure, Kate is going through IVF, but Toby just went off his antidepressants and is moody and constantly overreacting. Kate’s BAFFLED and says she has never seen him blow up like he did with Rebecca. She cannot figure out what is happening. Really Kate, clue in. Your fun clown is a sad clown now. Catch on. Go get Toby a pie.

The Pearson family is on the Trickle Down Insult Train. The insult train starts with Rebecca, who insults Kate about trying IVF at her weight; then Kate insults Kevin by telling him that no one takes him seriously; and then finally Kevin insults Randall by telling him that Kate said that only she can pass down a piece of Dad. This family is more dysfunctional than the New York City subway.  Better just stay quiet until the next station, folks.

Really? (Rating from 1-5: 1 means nothing too far-fetched happened; 5 means that someone else has died at the hands of a faulty crockpot):

I give this episode a 1. There was a lot of manufactured drama, but nothing insane happened. We already knew that the family needs to think before speaking and that no one wants to hear from Miguel.
